    La sicurezza energetica e la mitigazione del cambiamento climatico sono attualmente gli aspetti principali della politica energetica dell’Unione Europea (UE). Infatti, l’UE ha stabilito l’obiettivo di ridurre, entro il 2020, le emissioni di gas serra del 20% rispetto al 1990, di portare la quota delle energie rinnovabili al 20% del proprio fabbisogno e di aumentare l’efficienza energetica del 20% (Consilio dell’Unione Europea, 2008). A livello europeo, si stima che le biomasse possano rappresentare il 51% delle energie rinnovabili entro il 2020, quota che raggiunge l’81% se si considera la sola produzione di calore per riscaldamento domestico (Beurskens et al., 2011). Pertanto, le foreste sono considerate un’importante risorsa per raggiungere tali obiettivi strategici sebbene al momento le stime relative a quanto legno a scopi energetici sia effettivamente ricavabile dalla gestione forestale siano alquanto discordanti tra loro e non sempre tengano conto degli effettivi limiti ecologici, ambientali ed economici. Infatti, la reale disponibilità di legno per scopi energetici è data dalla differenza tra la disponibilità teorica legata all’accrescimento delle foreste e tali limiti. In particolare, il materiale legnoso è effettivamente disponibile solo quando è economicamente conveniente la sua mobilitazione dal bosco. Per questo motivo, il presente studio ha creato, in ambiente GIS, un sistema di supporto al decisore tecnico-politico che consenta lo sviluppo di scenari di possibile utilizzo della biomassa legnosa per scopi energetici in Friuli Venezia Giulia prendendo in considerazione le possibili limitazioni ecologiche, ambientali ed economiche allo sfruttamento delle risorse stesse.

  • Perspectives for biogas production - Agricultural Engineering

    The latest directives of the Energy and Environment Policy of the European Union (EU) established a new framework for renewable sources (Directive EC 28/2009; European Commission, 2009). The Italian Energy Action Plan of 2010 set a target of at least 17% of total energy generated from renewable sources by 2020. In this context biogas from waste and biomass is a potential energy source that can be used for the production of heat, electricity and fuel. The objective of this work was to determine the potential energy production from anaerobic digestion of animal wastes and agricultural residues in Friuli Venezia Giulia (Nord-East Italy). For an assessment of biogas as an energy source, based on direct conversion by agricultural farms, it is important to establish the amount of the waste. In this study, biogas amount which can be obtained was calculated for all municipalities in the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region (North-East of Italy) by using the number of livestock animals, the cereal area for agricultural residues and also considering various criteria such as the rate of dry matter and availability. The calculated regional biogas potential is about 187 (N)Gm3 when using animal waste, straw and corn stalk. The potential of biogas energy equivalent of Friuli Venezia Giulia is about 3 600 TJ (LHV) may be able to replace 2.6% of final energy consumption in Friuli Venezia Giulia (3 339 ktoe) and about 10% of the final electricity consumption (864 ktoe) considering an electrical efficiency of 30% with the biogas engine.

    The EPBD (Directive 2012/27/EC) art 4 invites Member States to establish a long-term strategy for mobilization of investments in the renovation of the national stock of residential and commercial buildings, both public and private. The pilot focuses on the first two steps of the strategy: To give an overview of the regional building stock based on statistical sampling and to identify cost-effective approaches to renovation relevant to the building type and climatic zone. An evidence-based estimation of expected energy savings can be given based on the analysis energy efficiency issues for different building typologies and the assessment of the feasibility and potential of suitable energy saving measures.

    La direttiva EPBD (2012/27/CE) art. 4 invita gli Stati membri a realizzare una strategia a lungo termine per mobilizzare gli investimenti nella ristrutturazione del parco immobiliare di edifici residenziali e commerciali, sia pubblici sia privati. L'attenzione si incentra sulle due prime fasi della strategia: fornire una panoramica del parco immobiliare comprensoriale in base a campioni statistici e identificare gli approcci maggiormente convenienti dal punto di vista economico per la ristrutturazione in relazione al tipo di edificio e alla zona climatica. Una stima del risparmio energetico previsto basata sulle prove a disposizione può fondarsi sull'analisi delle problematiche energetiche che si emergono per le diverse tipologie di edifici e sulla valutazione della fattibilità e potenziale per misure di risparmio idonee.

    Based on the preliminary work in the project CTR developed a research program for solar technologies and aligned it with CTRs strategy for smart energy research. In that respect CTR deepened the relationships in the network to set up research projects and consortiums of science and industry. The research activities will significantly expand the innovation site Villach and further strengthen the location. Potential synergies and possible participation in projects of the other partners in the network were clarified and implemented accordingly.

    This document outlines the analysis of the energy technology competencies in the regions of Carinthia and Friuli Venezia Giulia (FVG). The identified competencies are the basis for the definition of potential synergies and cooperative research areas. Chapter 2 describes shortly the company landscape based on extensive online and offline research and a classification of the competencies. The regional competencies have been organized in an online database – the so called competency map. Chapter 3 lists the research institutions and their respective research areas in energy technologies in the considered regions. Chapter 4 summarizes the potential research areas and lists possible research tasks derived from the former analysis of competencies. A more detailed elaboration can be found in the Roadmap for Energy Technologies in the Alps Adriatic Region.

Il capitolo 3 elenca gli istituti di ricerca e le rispettive aree di competenza nel settore delle tecnologie energetiche nelle regioni oggetto dell'analisi. Il capitolo 4 riassume le potenziali aree di ricerca ed elenca i possibili compiti in base alla precedente analisi delle competenze. Un'elaborazione più dettagliata è disponibile nella road map delle tecnologie energetiche nelle regioni dell'Alpe Adria.
